Rules & safety
A short list, kept short on purpose.
Nothing here is red tape for its own sake — every rule is about getting everyone back to the boathouse safely and happily.

You'll be sharing the lake with a fair few residents
Buoyancy aids
Compulsory for under-16s, non-swimmers, and anyone rowing solo. We provide and fit them before you push off — every boat also carries life jackets regardless.
Daylight only
We can't take you out once the sun's gone down. Last boat is always timed to roughly an hour before dusk, which shifts through the year — check our hours page or call ahead.
Sensible only
We'll ask anyone who's clearly had a few too many to sit this one out — for their own safety as much as anyone's.
ID & deposit
We may ask for proof of age, and a deposit is held against late returns, damage, mess left on board, or reckless handling on the water.
