Who we are

This site is run by Valentines Park Row Boat Hire (also known as Valentines Park Boating Lake), Cranbrook Road, Ilford IG1 4UA. Any question about this policy, contact jeff@valentinesboats.co.uk or 020 8518 0994.

What this site actually collects

There's no account system, no login, and no online booking — nothing on this site asks you to create a profile or hand over personal details to use it. That said, a few things do collect data, and it's more honest to say so plainly than to claim there's none:

  • Google Analytics (GA4). Every page on this site runs Google Analytics, which uses cookies to collect anonymised, aggregate information — pages visited, roughly how long for, general device type and location. We use this to see which pages are useful, not to identify individual visitors.
  • Google Maps. Our Find Us page embeds a Google Map. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy — that's between you and Google, not something we control or see.
  • Google reviews. The reviews shown on our homepage are fetched server-side by our own booking function, not directly from your browser — so viewing them doesn't send your data to Google. The review content itself is public, written by reviewers on Google's platform.
  • Email. If you email us, that message sits in our ordinary inbox like any other correspondence. We don't add addresses to a mailing list or share them on.

What we don't do

We don't sell or trade any data, we don't run advertising or retargeting, and we don't build customer profiles. Anything to do with hiring a boat on the day — proof of age, a deposit — is handled in person at the boathouse, not stored on this website.

Cookies

The cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics and, if you use it, Google Maps. You can block or clear cookies at any time through your browser settings; the site will still work, though Maps and analytics may not function as intended.

Your rights

Since we don't hold an account database, there's little of yours for us to look up beyond ordinary email correspondence. For anything Google collects directly (Analytics, Maps), Google's own privacy policy applies. For anything else, get in touch using the details above.

Changes

If how we use the site changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
